Help with my 3 year old
Name: Bhavika Patel
Question:
Hi Jen&Barb,
My son is 3 and half but does not want to go to preschool.also, he is not interested on potty training. Please help
Hi Bhavika, All kids develop differently. As far as the potty training, be consistent and reward him for any time that he uses the potty. If you need him to go to preschool (because you need to work or whatever the reason is), then it is not a choice. Talk to the teacher and see how he is after you leave. She will probably have the best advice as she will be the one with him. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Best, Jen
Bhavika,
You bring back memories of my child’s pre-school experience. My daughter India did not want to go. As a matter of fact she is perfectly happy staying at home all the time. I sat on the bench in front of her pre-school class room for 3 months! Until one day she came out and said “mommy you can go.” One of the happiest days of my life. She has been good ever since. What I will say if whatever your son is feeling is “real” to him and your going to need to find a compromise to get him to that school so he can see how much fun it is. Don’t worry about the potty training soon as he is at pre-school and sees all the other kids he will follow the lead. barb
