Tis the Season

Christmas decorations were a whole new thing for me when I got married – I grew up in a Jewish family and married a man who grew up Christian. Growing up, my family never had a tree and I have been making up for lost time since I married my husband and had kids! I find that decorating the house puts everyone in the holiday spirit; from the beautiful smell of the tree to all of the lights, it is festive and fun. We usually put our tree up right after Thanksgiving and save all of our ornaments, decorations and stockings in plastic bins that we keep in the garage. This is a big money and time saver and the ornaments each have their own memories. It is certainly a hodge-podge of ornaments and not the perfect Pottery Barn tree, but it has a lot of heart! We make a big celebration out of decorating the tree and the house and the kids love it. We take down the tree around New Year’s Day and put away all the wonderful decorations for next year.

Happy Holidays to all of you, no matter what you celebrate this holiday season, and let it be a time of joy and love.
